UG Optimization visits OVF in Nuremberg

The User Group Optimization is meeting at Nuremberg on September 26 to
28, hosted by Omnibusverkehr Franken GmbH. The program featuers the
newest developments in the areas of vehicle, duty, and integrated
optimization as well as a hands-on workshop on adaptation optimization.
Highlight is the presentation of the new parallel versions of the LBW
optimizers, which result in run time improvements of 40% on average on 4
cores. The results are deterministic (i.e., each run produces the same
result) and invariant with respect to the number of employed cores. A
walk through the old town, a visit to the castle (see photo below), and
a dinner in the cellar of the Old Kitchen complete the program. The
photo shows (most of) the UG on the terrace of the castle, from left to
right, host Stefan Rückert, Steve Caruso, Rainer Gliese, Andreas Melzig,
Wolfgang Pappenscheller, Ralf Borndörfer, Carol Müller, Gregor
Karbstein, Andreas Löbel, Sven Krämer, UG Head Jens Jungblut, and Björn
Eidsheim.
